Things to do in Samaná: a 3-day plan
The Samaná peninsula combines nature and beaches. Santa Bárbara de Samaná, Las Terrenas and Las Galeras are different bases: choose one around the places you most want to explore.

A starting point for your three days
An illustrative plan. Adjust visits to your dates, interests and mobility; activities are not included or booked.
Day 1
Get to know your base
Settle in and visit a beach near your accommodation. Spend the rest of the day exploring the town and arranging transfers for the next two days.
Day 2
Prepare for nature
Choose El Limón waterfall or a Los Haitises excursion. Ask about route conditions, expected weather, equipment and accessibility before deciding.
Day 3
Beach and rest
Visit a beach in your area or enjoy a rest day. For places reached by boat, confirm sea conditions and your return arrangements with a local operator.
Before you travel
- Avoid combining distant parts of the peninsula in one day without checking transfer times.
- Wear shoes with grip on trails and ask about conditions after rain.
- Whale watching is seasonal: confirm dates and authorised operators if this is your main goal.
