Do I need an E-Ticket to enter the Dominican Republic?
Yes — if you arrive or depart on a commercial flight. Every passenger (Dominican or foreign) must complete the free electronic form for Migración, Customs, and Public Health at https://eticket.migracion.gob.do/, which generates a QR code for the airline and for Migración to verify with your passport number.
Passengers on private flights, non-commercial vessels, ferries, or cruise ships generally use physical forms instead and are not required to use the E-Ticket portal. Complete the form truthfully; unfinished forms (no QR) cause airport delays.
Is the Dominican Republic E-Ticket free? Which website is official?
Yes. The official E-Ticket is free. Use only https://eticket.migracion.gob.do/ (a .gob.do government site). Lookalike commercial sites that charge a "processing fee" are not the Migración portal.
After you start an application, save the application code so you can reopen, edit, or finish later. When done, download the PDF or screenshot the QR. If someone asks you to pay to fill the form, stop and go to the official URL above.
When should I fill the E-Ticket? Do I still need to wait until 72 hours before the flight?
As of 21 Sep 2026, official Dominican tourism guidance states it is no longer mandatory to wait until 72 hours before travel. You may complete it as soon as you have flight details—even months ahead—but it must be done before you reach the airline counter, because the airline requires the QR.
Older MITUR manuals (2022) still mentioned a ~72-hour recommendation linked to health questions. If the form asks about recent symptoms, answer accurately close to departure and update via your application code if needed.
Do I need a separate E-Ticket for entry and for exit? What about the QR code?
Yes. Fill the form once for entry and once for departure. For a round-trip flight you should have two QR codes (arrival confirmation and departure confirmation). Print them or keep screenshots offline.
Migración verifies completion using your passport number, so enter the passport number carefully and finish until the QR appears. Airlines check the QR before travel; incomplete submissions are a common failure point.
Can my whole family use one E-Ticket form?
Yes, for the same family trip: create one user, then add family members—up to 6 companions plus the person filling the form (7 people total per form). You do not need a separate form per family member within that limit. Over 7 travelers requires an additional form.
Children do not complete the Customs section; only adults (18+) do. The system generates one QR code for the family group registered on that form. Keep the application code to edit names or flight data later.
What is the difference between the E-Ticket and the Tourist Card?
They are not the same. The E-Ticket is the mandatory digital form (immigration + customs + health data) for commercial air passengers. The Tourist Card is a US$10 tourist entry tax under Dominican law (DGII).
For most visitors arriving by air on tickets issued outside the Dominican Republic, the Tourist Card fee is already included in the airfare, so you typically do not buy a separate card at the airport. Entering by sea or land may require purchasing the card at DGII sales points. Completing the E-Ticket does not replace paying/holding the Tourist Card entitlement. Typical authorized tourist stay under the card is up to 30 days (extensions via Migración).
What passport validity do I need for the Dominican Republic?
The general published rule for foreign tourists is a passport with at least six (6) months validity, plus return/onward ticket, a local address, and proof of sufficient funds if asked.
As of 21 Sep 2026, a temporary exception (1 Dec 2024 – 31 Dec 2026) applies: nationals of the European Union, United Kingdom, Canada, United States, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Ecuador entering for tourism only may use a passport that remains valid for their stay and departure (not necessarily six months). Hard refresh required after 31 Dec 2026 (or sooner if Migración issues a new resolution). Airlines may still apply stricter document rules.
Do I need a visa for the Dominican Republic, or is the Tourist Card enough?
As of 21 Sep 2026, many nationalities may enter as tourists without a consular visa, using passport + Tourist Card (usually in the airfare) + E-Ticket. Some nationalities must obtain a Dominican visa at a consulate/embassy before travel.
Separately, Dominican rules allow entry for tourism—regardless of nationality—if you are a legal resident of, or hold a valid visa from, the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, or Schengen, subject to other entry conditions.

What documents should I have ready for the E-Ticket and airport check-in?
Have ready: full name as in passport, passport number, email, flight number and airline, and the exact address where you will stay in the Dominican Republic (for rentals: province, municipality, and sector). Adults complete the customs declaration fields about luggage/goods.
Foreign tourists should also be able to show a return or onward ticket. Bring digital and/or printed entry and exit QR codes. If Migración or Customs asks, be prepared to show economic means for your stay. Keep copies of your passport bio page separate from the original.

Tourist Card vs E-Ticket
